One of the best things you can learn in 2020 is, of course, SEO because it’s in high demand right now. You don’t need to buy an SEO course to learn how it works but yes you will need to learn what is SEO and how you can apply ON-Page SEO & OFF-Page SEO to rank higher in Google search results.
So if you don’t know what is SEO then don’t worry because today I’m going to tell how ON-Page SEO work and how to apply in an article. (We are going to learn how OFF-Page SEO work but in some other article)
What is ON-Page SEO
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of increasing the quality and quantity of website traffic by increasing the visibility of a website or a web page to users of a web search engine – As per Wikipedia
ON-Page SEO means whatever you do in your front end of the article. In short, what kind of Keywords you are adding on your article, Tags, how you optimize images, what kind of content you are writing, basically whatever you do when you are writing a blog or article it calls ON-Page SEO.
Now let’s go through all the processes which you will need to do when you’re writing an article for your website.
ON-Page SEO: Focus Keyword
As per Google, the focus keyword will not give you proper ranking on google because it’s dead. Now if you want to rank a particular blog post on Google then you must need to write quality content. Google will automatically analyze your blog post and if your article is about what you have described in Title, Meta description, slug, and your content is relevant then, of course, your article will rank on google.
If you want to know more click right here, Google has explained how you can rank your article without any promotions. As I have said focus keyword is dead but still, you can add these old tricks on your articles.

If you are writing a post, you have to come up with a focus keyword, where you can rank your page on a google search engine, so first, you need to find a keyword. Now the big question is where you can find a good keyword, so I’m gonna add some names where you can search the best keywords for a specific article.
- Microsoft Keyword research tool
- Google Keywords
- Keywords everywhere (Google extension)
- google trends
- Google Autofill search result
First thing first, don’t totally rely on these tools, it’s just for your research.
Once you found a good keyword, put that keyword in the first paragraph like where people can read easily and don’t look like a robotically generated keyword, so people like your post and they spend time on your blog post.
After that use that same keyword on heading 1, heading 2 and so on… like what I have done with this article.
On-Page SEO: Keyword Density
Keyword density used to be very important back in 2016 & 2017 but right now in 2020, it doesn’t matter too much. For example, if your article needs that particular keyword then you can use that keyword for 6 or 7 times but keep in mind, don’t put that word randomly anywhere in any paragraph or in the headings.
As I have said earlier, the keyword doesn’t matter if your content is great. So make sure you write great & awesome content for your users.
Overall, it doesn’t matter if you add keyword more then 10 times or more that but make to write a long article, by doing that your article will look great and it will not rely on one keyword. If you want to measure the percentage of your article Keyword density then you can check given below data.
Keyword density is how many times your keyword appears on a page divided by the total number of words that page. if your page contains 1000 words and keyword appears 100 times, keyword density percentage is 10%.
On-Page SEO: Meta Description
In normal words, the meta description is a short sum-up of the article. For example, if your article is about “How to Make Money Online” then describe that title in two lines, so if someone searches on Google about that keyword then Google will showcase that two lines to the users. In-short Meta Description is very important for any website.
Now the question is where you can write Meta Description?
Some of the premium themes do provide an in-built meta description option where you can write the description but if your theme doesn’t have an in-built meta description option then you can always use the YOAST plugin.
On-Page SEO: Image Optimization
Before we talk further here what Google has to say about image optimization
The above feature was introduced by Google on 16th February 2018 and it’s really good for website trafic but make sure if you are using someone else’s images on your website then give credit to the real owner.
First thing first, you have to write alt text for all the images you have used. For example, if I’m writing an article about” ON-PAGE SEO” then I have to add that particular Keyword in the ALT area and the same goes for the title of the images. Optimize images with alt text will provide greater relevance to search engines about your context and help drive traffic to your site.
One tip I can give you, when you give a title for any image, make sure to add your website name at the end of the keyword. For example ” ON-PAGE SEO – waytoearnmoney”. Always upload images below 1 megabyte.
ON-PAGE SEO: Internal links & External Links
When a person clicks an external link that means that person is going to another website, you can add your social network page on an outbound link where you can make traffic for your page, there are two kinds of link 1. Dofollow link 2. Nofollow link
- Dofollow link: Dofollow link allows to all search engine to follow them and reach your website once you do that, a window shows up on the right the link HTML highlighted. Then simply check for the ‘Dofollow’ attribute is in the code. Once people follow these links. This will improve its ranking position significantly in search engines.
- Nofollow link: Nofollow link will tell a bot to not follow the link and only humans can follow this link, this way google or any search engine bot does not follow your link.
Normal internal links use to connect your content and give an idea to google of the structure of the website before your content can rank, it needs links, the search engine finds your posts and pages best when they’re linked to from somewhere on the web. a search engine uses links to find out what content on your site is related and the value of that content.
When you’ve written various articles about a certain topic you should link them with each other. This will show all the search engines and users that those articles are a topic all related. you can link directly from sentences in your copy or add links at the end of your post.
ON-PAGE SEO: SLUG
Don’t add too many keywords in URL aka slug. You can see this article URL, it just ” ON-PAGE SEO” there is nothing else. What I’m saying, keep it clean and short.
